The Blueaquaedu team has identified and mapped educational programmes aimed at developing essential skills and qualifications for a variety of occupations in the aquaculture blue economy. These trades cover key sectors such as hatcheries, cage culture, recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS), as well as product processing and valorisation.

This deliverable (D2.1) is a first step in the BlueAquaEdu project, providing details of aquaculture education provision in 18 European countries and 5 French outermost regions of the Atlantic Ocean, broken down into 3 main categories (vocational training, bachelor’s degree and master’s degree).

This enables us to see the disparities between the courses on offer in different countries. Ultimately, the project will use this mapping as a basis for proposing the development of courses to complement the training identified, and to provide the same training opportunities for younger generations interested in the blue economy.
